July Ipsy Bag - 2023

You’re not going crazy, there are more than 5 items in the image — We went on a bit of a points spending spree, here’s what we selected:

  • Uve beauty sponge

  • Mellow lip crayon shade: Rose

  • Purlisse Kale & Vitamin K Moisturizer and Yuzu & Orange Exfoliator

The one thing we found a bit strange was the fact the Exfoliator is a 50ml bottle and the moisturizer was a 15ml bottle, but we’ll take a full size product anyday — we haven’t opened it yet because we’re still using our Elemis cleanser from last month.

Now on to our selection: We chose the SLMISSGLAM Orange Concealer Brush.

Our top product in the bag is the Bump Eraser from First Aid Beauty, we also haven’t tried it yet because we want to keep our products as fresh as possible, but we have used this brand in the past and are happy with previous results and as a deluxe sample this is a great option for travel.

The other three products are considered to be full size as well, which we would leave up for debate (minus the lip butter, more on this later).

The Seraphine Botanicals Dawn Light Palette, is a great neutral palette with 2 shimmers and 2 mattes, it’s great to toss in the bag and you could easily go from day-to-night, however be warned that the shadows are very powdery, and have a fair amount of kick back. I wouldn’t consider this to be a full size product and wouldn’t be likely to spend X on it. I would instead suggest the Natasha Denona mini palettes that come with 5 shades and retail for aprox $34 CAN.

The highlight from YC collection in the shade cocoflakes is a soft golden, and not as dark as the name leads you to believe. It is quick glittery rather than a shimmer so depending on your style this could work in your favour, or not. Again, there are more affordable high street brands I would recommend over this one when it comes to full size. This one retails at X. If you prefer a powder Essence Highlighter is great and if you prefer a liquid I think Pixi’s liquid shadows would do the trick and you get more for the price.

Saving the worst for last — HEAD KANDY Go Getter™ Lip Butter in Lemon Citrus, is just a cheap lip balm with what feels like citronelle in it suggested retail at $16 USD, you could walk into literally any high street or pharmacy and find anything better, including my current favourite reve de miel from Nuxe. This also happens to be the 3rd or 4th month in a row with a lip balm/oil/butter, maybe next month will be different?

Overall, this isn’t the worst bag, but not the best either. Aside from our add-ons this bag is right down the middle at 2.5/5, we could do without the highlighter and lip butter, and half marks for the eyeshadow quality.
