I Have Bald Spot
Yup, you read that right.
But not on my head… my eyebrows. Now whether you like em skinny, full or fluffy there’s no denying it brows have been apart of the beauty and fashion industry for years. It frames your faces and is an expression of yourself… and if you’re like me they’re very expressive. Which is why I need to take care of them.
Meet Ayla, owner of Eyela Beauty. I first met her almost 5 years ago when I walked into Vanity Vault to get myself… let's say beach ready. Ever since then like clockwork I have gone to see her every 4 weeks for maintenance literally from head to toe she does it all: Waxing, spray tan, manicures, pedicures, lip blushing and of course brows (powder, lamination, and microblading depending on your commitment level).
Now I am super protective of my brows, in fact, it took me 3 years before I let her even touch them with the wax, then she slowly wiggled her way into shaping which then led to the observation of “the bald spot”. I never paid close attention to my brows until that moment, then I immediately booked in for a microblading appointment.
The best thing about it… NO ONE noticed! Ayla was so detailed down to the stroke that only those who pay special attention to brows, like yours truly, noticed the transformation. Talk about ideal!
What has now become a great friendship…with a side of therapy, trust me no one knows you better than the person who waxes you, you’re welcome for the image. I thought it was about time I introduce you to this brow magician.
I sent her over some rapid-fire questions, and if it leaves you wanting more answers you can ask her all about brows, and really anything beauty at info@eyelabeauty.com
As I mentioned, I met her at Vanity Vault since then she has built her own business Eyela Beauty and has her own beautiful studio. Ayla understands the struggle of balance, which is why she has flexible hours, as seen in her booking calendar because she herself is a mom and knows what it means to be there for the important moments. Life doesn’t happen between 9-5. Over her 14 years in the industry, she’s seen it all, I’m sure no stone is left unturned or question unanswered.
I love Ayla for her passion to continuously learn the latest trends and her willingness to become an expert at it so you’re never worried about what’s happening to your face, and during the appointment, she’s always checking in to make sure you’re comfortable. She also offers a wide range of products to keep your beauty regime up to glam standard between appointments, including Sunnatan mousse and lotion, hydrating cream (which smells amazing!), Gehwol foot cream, eyenvy lash to keep your lash game strong, and brow serum to keep your brows fierce and my personal favourite WithinUs Collagen, if you haven’t yet, try their Coconut Collagen Creamer, you can thank me later. It’s the only way Ayla will drink her coffee…I know she’s nuts, but she does like tea so the brit in me has to forgive her ;).
When she’s not in the studio she’s spending time with her girls, usually in the water whenever possible. With COVID there have been adjustments but always family first.
While asking Ayla these questions she wanted to make sure I gave a shoutout to all her loyal clients. With COVID and a 3-month closure, it hit her family hard, but with the love and support towards her small business, it helped them get their feet back on the ground!
As the holidays are ready, it’s time to put our best face forward…especially nose up. Whether we are seeing people in person or over Skype we need to be camera ready. Now is the best time to get brows done as it gives you plenty of time to heal and get a touch up in time for the holidays and if you’re unsure of what to give someone this year you can easily give them the gift of beauty with a gift card or as Ayla to swing by and collect some items to make your own beauty gift set.
Big love and Happy Holidays from Eyela Beauty & Thebrokeblonde xo
