Beauty Empties - Fall 2020

It’s been a minute since I’ve done a beauty empties overhaul, to be honest this one won’t be particularly long either as I have already shared with you in various posts that take a deeper dive into current products I have been loving. There is however a few that are lone wolves and don’t have a home, which lands us here.

No 7 Beautiful Skin Teint Pairfait Cleansing Balm, while this is a great high street brand, I wouldn’t switch it for my beloved Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser. It was good in the intrim when I didn’t have Liz Earle on hand but once I did it found itself in the back of the vanity, until it was too old to be used…feel slightly guilty about this as I love No.7 as a brand but it just wasn’t the same.

Another empty this season is Dermalogica’s Biolum C Serum, which I fell in love with and I currently have one on stand by for when I run out of my Beauty Counter Vitamin C Serum.

As for toners I still have yet to find one I absolutely love, but as of late I have used the bliss mist from Saje, which is super gentle and refreshing, however if you’re looking an all natural toner this would be a great fit for you. Saje also carries various mists depending on your skin’s need.

While much of my time…perhaps too much of it is focused on skincare, I don’t leave much time for hair care. I rely probably a bit too much on dry shampoo so much so that I have become a bit of a dry shampoo conisseur. I know Batisse is quite pricey I will say it still is by far my favourite with Dove in second place, to be honest I wouldn’t even put Pantene’s Pro-V Dry Shampoo in the running, it has a strong scent of hairspray and I didn’t feel like it soaked up any of the oils. With that being said I have yet to try their new Never Tell or Cheat Day formulas. If you have I’d love to know your thoughts and whether or not I should give it a whirl.

A couple of other items I will breeze by while I toss them in the bin is Duo Lash Glue, works fine but I don’t wear lashes that often and I’ve had it sitting in my vanity for far too long. L’Oreal Unlimited Mascara, at first glance I thought the flexible handle on the wand was a fun unique feature however I quickly learned that when it comes to mascara in particular, function real does need to come first. I am not a huge eyeliner person but I always seem to end up with ample of samples which I like to give a test or two too, but then they end up in makeup graveyard, which is where my It Cosmetics eyeliner found itself. B.B Dryspun Finish, another item that I had no issue with I just sat on top of my vanity without me ever reaching for it, and now that I have given it the boot I’m sure I find a use for it and wish I had never tossed it.

Now onto the mascara portion of the blog…hold on tight its the largest portion. Mainly because I was seem to misplace my mascara and find myself buying other ones only to find the original. Another way to try multiple brands is by buying sample kits from places like Sephora over the holidays. Lets begin:

Overall: Great, Good, Average, Poor.

Formula: Dry, Average, Wet.

  • YSL Vinyl Couture: Overall: Good. Brush Type: Classic Thick Hourglass Shape Formula: Average Consistency.

  • Benefit They’re Real: Overall: Average/Good, I know this is a cult favourtie but for me is loses points on the brush. Brush Type: Plastic Brush with Bristles. Formula: Average.

  • Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance: Overal: Average. Brush Type: Curved Plastic. Formula: Dry.

  • Sephora: Overall: Good. Brush Type: Classic Hourglass Shape. Formula: Wet Side.

  • Smashbox X Rated: Overall: Good Brush. Type: Triangle Formula: Average.

  • Dior Lash Primer Thick Brush & Dry Formula

  • Smashbox Superfan: Overall: Average. Brush Type: Slim Oval Plastic. Formula: Average.

  • BadGal Bang: Overall: Great. Brush Type: Flex Plastic Brush Narrow Triangle. Formula: Average/Wet.

  • Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Mascara: Overall: Great. Brush Type: Soft Triangle. Formula: Average/Dry.

Now you’ve made it to the end of my mascara novel, I have also used up most of my Ordinary products including the Vitamin C in Suspension 23%, Caffeine Solution Serum and the Serum Foundation. Ordinary has been one of my long time favourite brands not only are they affordable but they are also great quality and well formulated.

To add a bit of glow to my tan over the summer I have been using the last of my Zoella Body Fondant, to keep my skin soft I have been using Dove’s new body mousse which was given to me as a test from Influenster and to stay fresh I have been using lululemon Black Pepper & Sandalwood deoderant.

As of the spring, I have been using a B12 liquid supplement in raspberry flavour to keep my energy high. I am already on my next bottle, placebo or not it seems to be working for me.

You have reach the end of the saga!
