Hollydays - Vancouver

have been doing my best to avoid winter as much as I possibly can.

Just two weeks after my wonderfully warm trip to Nashville I decided to pop over to Vancouver for a couple of days.

Turns out I cannot be trusted with google maps as my friend kindly told me which areas to avoid and within a matter of minutes on my first day I found myself smack dab in the middle of East Hastings - now if you’re from Vancouver I do not need to say anymore for those less familiar let me paint you a picture: I was crossing streets just to be near the closest police car to feel safe. Needless to say I hustled back quickly to where I began my journey - after that I was smooth sailing.

My days included popping into a lot of coffee shops and a lot of walking around... sidenote don’t ever try to break in new heels when a lot walking is involved #newbiemistake.

Here is a list of where I went:

  • First night there we just popped over to a new local pub called district, all sleeves were $6 which was great, the food was decent and reasonably priced, the service was a bit lacking ... they forgot to bring us one of the items we had ordered, I don’t know if it’d be my first choice but it’s in walking distance and affordable so there’s a chance I’ll go back haha.

  • Granville Island (and the brewery of course) My Favourite still has to be the Lion’s winter ale, I did get a flight so I was able to try 5 including their small batch brews and their tacos are delicious!

  • Yaletown, my friends and I popped over for dinner one night and had a couple of glasses of red. I would go back just for the waffle fries.

  • Gastown: I strolled up and down and popped into a couple of shops then stopped for coffee at Smart Mouth.

  • We also stumbled upon a little place that sold delicious Crème Brulé, now I am not the world’s biggest fan but they had a Earl Grey Flavoured one so I had to try... not to mention super cute macaroons.

  • When I was left to my own devices I did a little bit of shopping at Pacific Coast Centre and stopped off at Hula Poke for lunch, exciting news they just opened a restaurant in Calgary!! It was so good I would highly recommend it.

  • Other then that I just spent my time wandering and taking pictures and figuring out where I actually was in the city haha.

I’m sure I missed a lot but I do plan on going back shortly so if you have any suggestions please let me know!!

Big Love, thebrokeblonde xo

P.S turns out I do a lot of eating when I’m away...oops
