Ipsy Glam X - February 2023

Here’s the scoop, last month I mention how I was unsure about whether or not I was going to get the Glam Bag, as I upgraded to the Glam X. Turns out I won’t be getting it, however as I signed up for the annual membership, recieving the Glam X box simply means it will be extending my membership until I have recieved 12 bags. While I was disappointed (I really wanted to recieve both this month) I do have a friend who is also a subscriber but didn’t upgrade meaning, she let me take a peek inside her bag.

So before we get into the box, let’s see what was inside her bag — I won’t be able to give any rating on the bag as her profile will be different to mine, but I will rate each product in the sense of value, and whether or not I was use it personally.

Time for the Glam X, last month I gave you a sneak peek as to what was waiting instore for me. While I wasn’t thrilled about the items selected for me, it is great valued for money and I will likely end up using 3/5 products, at worst I’ll only use 1 and gift the rest away. However, the single product is valued at $108 CAN so well worth it and that is Drunk Elephant’s Protini™ Powerpeptide Resurfacing Serum with Lactic Acid. The other two products are Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara, I’m on the fence about this one as I currently have quite the stock of mascara waiting to be used, and while I liked the Orignal for the most part, I did find it to flake nearer the end of the day and I don’t typically go for waterproof so we’ll see if I bother with it or if I gift it away. The third product is Make Up Forever’s Rouge Artist For Ever Matte 24HR Longwear Liquid Lipstick in 192 Toffee at All Hours. While the shade seems to be in my colour palette, I know Matte lips have found their way back into the shadows while glosses are taking over, and not to give too much away just yet but I have other options…

The other two products selected for me were a night cream by GROWN ALCHEMIST and a clarifying toner from GEORGETTE KLINGER. I am pretty set in my ways when it comes to skincare so it’s unlikely I’ll be reaching for these, and I don’t have acne-prone skin in need of a clarifying toner so I would rather gift it to someone who would make better use of these items.

Onto my selections. The way it works with the Glam X is you get 3 selections, but unlike the Ipsy Bag where you have a selection of 12, they break them up into categories only allowing you to select one from each category making it difficult and limited for options. While you can add-on (which I did) not all products are available, so I was unable to select the Contour Palette and the Lip Glosses I had my eyes on. Instead, my selections consisted of Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow AHA Pink Dream Body Cream (Value of $38 CAN), Tarte’s Maracuja Juicy Lipstick in Rosy Brown (Value of $31 CAN) and Natasha Denona’s Lip Oh-phoria in Mauve (Value of $38 CAN)…see what I mean by options. While all of these products individually are great, it was the lack of variety I found disappointing.

For the Add-ons, I decided to add a set of 3 Claw Clips and a Deluxe Sample of Saturday Skin Yuzu Vitamin C Sleep Mask, which would of been my selection for the glam bag.

Overall the Box cost me $94.39 CAN, and the value of the box was approx: $439 CAN!! Even if we deducted the products I’m less likely to use making the total: $215, which is still double what I paid for it.

Would you buy the GLAM X BOX? What was your Favourite product this month?!

Before I leave you until next month is…the Ipsy Bag graveyard, what are some products from 3 Months ago that I haven’t used yet: When I look back at the November Glam Bag, many of the items were used throughout the month, and they fell to the back of the vanity. The only one I haven’t used at all was the NANETTE LEPORE Fiercely Fragrance, this one will be gifted away, and I have pulled out the KNDR BEAUTY Lip Scrub to help my dry lips battle out this never-ending winter.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a true unboxing without a spoiler for next month so here’s the bag design and my selection:
