Mother's Day Afternoon Tea
Afternoon tea has been a tradition for me and my mum for YEARS, we always put on our Sunday best, bring out the fancy China (which was a huge deal when I was younger). Anyways this year I thought I’d share with you the what is usually a part of an afternoon tea!
Sandwiches:
Cucumber and Cream cheese, my tip here is to ever so slightly toast the bread that way the cream cheese doesn’t peel the bread to bits
Cheese and Tomato, a classic we keep it real simple and use cheddar nothing fancy.
Egg and Watercress sandwich, whip up a couple eggs add some salt, pepper and mayo and tada, another thing you could add is radishes.
And of course Traditional Ham and Mayo, this way I can add some Lays Original Crisps too. If ham doesn’t take your fancy you could do roast beef and mustard or chicken and chipotle mayo.
Scones!
If I have time I’ll try to bake a batch from the Butter Baked Goods cookbook, but if not I’ll pop into a bakery ... most likely Cobs and to make it look like a real cheat I’ll cut them up into smaller bits (so they look cute and dainty) and put them on a plate of my own hehe.
Other Sweets
Shortbread, I want to attempt to make my own infused with earl grey and a lemon drizzle icing.. I what are your thoughts?
Strawberries and Cream something light and sweet.
And my personal favourite Jammie Dodgers!
And if you’re still hungry order a pizza haha.
What are your Mother’s Day traditions?!
Happy Mother's to you and your lovely mums x
Big Love, thebrokeblonde xo
