New In Beauty - January 2018

IMG_6878 2.JPG

Last year I started this segment and I wasn’t very consistent - this year I am going to try my best to fix that, by having an outline. There are always so many new products it can be hard to keep track and decide what’s the best ones to try as I do not have an unlimited budget.

I originally was going to do 2 high end and 1 high street, however it doesn’t always work that way, so I’ve decided to give myself an $100 budget instead.

Here’s what I bought this month:

Let’s start with the most anticipated and expensive product and that is the Tarte shape tape - hydrating foundation. I work in a really drying environment so it takes a lot of me to keep me face looking fresh. I recently emptied out my Bare Minerals Foundation but while the coverage wasn’t bad, I found it breaking apart around my nose and dryer areas. My first impressions of the Tarte Shape tape have been great, I bought it in the shade fair beige and it seems to be doing the trick. I also like the applicator more than the dropper Tarte had with their rainforest of the sea collection.

For my fellow Canadians, the shipping didn’t take long at all and it’s $55 CAN.

Next is the Origins Makeup remover jelly, I Have yet to come across a product from origins that I do not like so I just had to try their new Makeup Remover and this does not disappoint, quick little wipe and wash and you’re done. Plus for those with sensitive noses it does not have a strong smell what so ever.

This retails for $29 CAN.

The most disappointing product was Farmacy’s honey butter. At $13 for a Lip balm I thought it would have magical healing powers. While it did keep my lips nice and hydrated so did my Aloe Vaseline for 2.99 from shoppers. I will be the first to admit I fell for the hype and the branding and it is not worth $3.60/gram.

Grand Total coming in right under the wire at $97!
