Sweater Weather
At last it’s sweater season…only a matter of time before before they will be hiding under mountains of scarves and parkas. This year it is my goal to look as cute as possible, before I look like a stuffed polar bear.
My key trick has been finding layering options and mixing jackets with crews and hoodies.
The first sweater I have been loving since the beginning of quarantine and if you have looked at any of my past nine squares on social you’ll see it, that’s just how often I wear it! While this exact one is no longer available, I saw this one one @kyoung.photo and I believe Jillian Harris also wore it the other day on Insta and that is Aerie’s Good Vibes Corded Oversized Quarter Zip Sweatshirt or if you’re really craving that cosy crew they also have the Good Vibes Oversized Sweatshirt.
Another cosy fave is the Aysmmetrical Snap-Up Fleece. This one ranges from $74-$93 depending on colour preferance, I bought it last year in the black/grey and it quickly became a winter staple. I personally love the joey pocket in the front to keep my hands toasty when it’s not quite mitten weather or if I am hopping in and out of the car and it’s a brisk walk across the parking lot…also great for holding secret snacks.
I feel like I am always a bit late to the party when it comes to trends, I need a warming up period. Anyone else? Fortunately the Sherpa phase is still alive and well and I managed to grab a cute coat from Old Navy nearing the end of last winter. While that one is no longer, I found this one on the Abercrombie website that is extremely similar, and to be honest I think I might like it a wee bit more. I particularly love the collar detail.
On to the latest and greatest cosy’s of 2020…thus far. The Joe Fresh Jacket, I honestly don’t know what appealed to me to begin with but I decided to buy both colours, brown and black, with the intention of returning one. Spoiler, that didn’t happen. Over the past couple of weeks they have become the ultimate layering piece perfect for Calgary’s inconsistent weather. They are warm enough to be a light jacket, but thin enough to pass as a sweater. They are only $49 at Joe Fresh or Superstore, but it sounds like they are going fast so check it out while they’re there!
One item that’s on my winter wishlist is a this gorgeous Teddy Coat from ShadyLady, I think it would be the perfect winter wonderland coat, but knowing my luck I will spill hot chocolate all over it.
What are you must have items this season?
