August Favourites - 2020

Hope you have all been able to add a bit of melanin to your skin and have glow…rather than a burn. I’m sure you’ve all remember to put on that SPF. I know I can be forgetful which is why I love when a face cream has an SPF included, one of my favourites is the White Tea SPF 40 from Origins, but it has recently been bumped for their new Glow Gel Moisutrizer, I love how light this is in comparison to a rich cream however, this does not have an SPF so I have to remind myself to use my Coola SPF Setting Spray over top.

I really haven’t been wearing much, if any, make up this month because I have been in the sun quite a bit and jumping in and out of the lake. But there a couple of items I do still reach including my Rose Quartz roller. I use this daily to help with lymphatic drainage to help de-puff those tired eyes…long days and short nights are quickly catching up to me. I have also been trying out Dermalogica’s new Hydro Masque Exfoliant. I always get excited around new launches especially when I already am familiar with the brand. I was able to hop on a masterclass and learn more, which I will share with you in an upcoming post. I will say those it’s super light and refreshing.

I have found it diffcult to fall asleep and stay asleep during this heat wave so I have been relying on coffee, and caffeine in general. I want to give a quick little shout out to Rviitalize, a new natural energy drink on the market with no fizz. They have launched two new flavours this month and can be found at most grocers in Calgary or on Amazon. My favourite flavour is the Speachless…closely tied with Royal, then Midnight followed by Divine, you can’t go wrong with any. But more on that a little later.

Another thing I have been trying to do is keep my room as cool and relaxing as possible, this WFH thing has got me all over the map and my room quickly becomes my work environmment which doesn’t help when I am trying to fall asleep, it leads to many 2am brain storming sessions. While I love Saje, and have recently bought their newest diffuser in collaboration with Jillian Harris I like to leave that in the office and I have been using Feya reed diffusers in my bedroom instead.

I got my first one as apart of my Causebox and when I shared it on Instagram they offered me to become an Ambassador, which of course I said yes too. If you’re curious as to wondering why I said yes I will be doing a full Feya introduction in another post. To get yourself a reed diffuser, soy candle or both use the code HOLLY at checkout to save yourself 15% ! For the autumn I have decided to buy the Black Oak & Currant in the diffuser and the Brown Sugar & Fig in the Candle.

It’s hard to keep a running tally of all the things I have been loving, many of them overlap into different months so I try my best not to overshare the same thing too many times. I’m off to wine country (aka Kelowna) in a couple of weeks and I already have a few things planned that I’ll want to mention next month, because I like to test things out before I share them with you.

Before I sign off, I FINALLY got a sodastream! I am a huge fizzy water fan, so it was truly only a matter of time before I caved. With the thanks of my PC points I got it for free (+taxes), I use it almost daily…aside from when I am away, but I did consider bringing it with me on a road trip as there is no plug, I refrained. While I am not on board with adding the syrups I have been playing around with various citrus and herbs for flavours as well as the new Tetley Cold Infusions. They were sent as a sample from well.ca as a gift with purchase and I have to say they’re pretty good! I love that there’s no sugar or artifical flavours light some of the other “water enhancers”, my personal fave was the Strawberry Watermelon followed closely by the Mint, Lemon, Cucumber.

I’d love to hear what you’ve been sipping on this summer, aside from Starbucks Cold Foams of course!
