Fall Causebox - 2020

We all love getting mail, don’t we?

The good kind of course, not the trashy flyer, or the phone bill (do those even get delivered?) I am a sucker for a good subscription box. But I believe, like most things in life there is a honeymoon phase.

After a while, the excitement begins to fizzle out because you either have picked what you are getting inside or you know there’s bound to be something in there that you won’t use OR even worst is a repeat product from just a few seasons earlier!

It’s safe to say we know these box providers are able to get killer discounts which are how they are able to keep costs low for us (yay!) There comes a point where the brand names just don’t cut it. It all becomes clutter.

I have been a member of the subscription game for a while, and I thought I would share with you 5 ways, I make the best use of my boxes.

Step 1: It pays to pay.
If you can, I would highly recommend paying for the entire year upfront. This typically saves you money, gives you early access and selection options.

Step 2: Build with intention
I am not one for surprises, I like to know what’s coming and most subscription boxes allow for annual subscribers to pick items that will be in their boxes, not only do I know what I am getting, I get to choose what I want which allows for strategic planning and mitigate waste!

Let’s use my Fall Causebox for an example:

Choices:

Choice 1:
Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Muscle Gel ($39)
Tribe Alive Rose Gold Criss Cross Cuff ($42)
Volim Love Scrub ($56)

I selected the Volim Love Scrub for two reasons, its the highest cost value at $56, but it also works with a couple more items in the box plus some goodies I already have in my gift closet, so I can either keep it for myself or give it away as a gift.

This time I chose to keep it as it's smelt amazing, I did use it, but I found it a bit gritty for my liking. I wouldn't buy this item outside of the box but I will use it to the end. I am curious to try their masks or serums.

Choice 2:
Artisan Direct Milky Way Lantern ($40)
Tease Tea Glass 3-in-1 Tea & Fruit Tumbler ($39)

This one was a hard choice for me as I love home decor, but unfortunately, Causebox doesn't currently have an add-on option and for that reason, I went with the tumbler. If I was able to purchase a second lantern I would have gone with those so I could of lite up my back patio or put them on either side of the fireplace, I'm all about symmetry. The tumbler will make a great stocking stuffer, birthday gift, or even cocktail shaker.

Choice 3:
Bathen Waffle Bathrobe in Charcoal or Mint ($90)
Bathen Waffle Towels (Set of 4) in Charcoal or Mint ($90)

Choice 4:
Another hard option, I decided to go with the towels as I already have two bathrobes and I am quite particular. As the towel set comes with face towels I chose grey over mint so if my makeup stained the towels it wouldn't be as obvious.

Choice 5:
The last option was between The Green Co. Set of 10 Reusable Facial Rounds or Buzzy Seeds Basil Grow Kit. I couldn't find the price value but I did go with the Facial Rounds because I use my Liz Earle muslin cloths daily and I already have click-and-grow that is bursting with Basil so it didn't make much sense for me!

P.S these facial rounds are incredibly soft!

Step 3: Gift away or Giveaway

Gifts are my love language, I've spoken about that before so when there is something that doesn't take my fancy my next thought is who would appreciate this. I like to give gifts with intention, and if you follow me on Instagram you'll know this from my many story polls. This also is a lifesaver when it comes to last-minute events, secret Santa, or even visiting guests as a little welcome package. This season's box came with the Way of Will Brightening Serum a great little detail to add to a guest basket especially if they have traveled afar...and even more so if it's been a cross-country road trip (COVID problems).

Step 4: Hosting Essentials

Hosting people fills my cup, I enjoy having people come and stay whether it's for a week or a weekend, I create a little care package. This includes a little bit of everything from treats to toiletries. I like to take extra care in populated areas such as the living space and kitchen, making sure it smells nice and snacks are readily available, this is when things like candles or like the summer box diffusers come in handy or like this month the Core Bamboo Serve Set perfect for entertaining.

Step 5: Make sure you use

Tying all previous steps together, this will ensure you get the best use out of your box. When picking items don't get caught up in brand names or gimmicks think about what you need or are likely to use. This will not only avoid you collecting clutter but also avoid getting frustrated, feeling like you are tipping money down the drain.

Bonus Step !: Use your box to your benefit. For a limited time you can recieve a free PMD Microderm ($159 value) when you sign up for an annual subscription.
