Rhubarb Gin Fizz

IMG_4877.JPG

It’s harvest season. One of my favourite, next to Christmas of course.

This was our second year growing rhubarb in our garden, as per most of my google research we didn’t pull any for eating last year and this year we pulled a few but they weren’t quite rich enough in colour for us to add to a crumble so instead I took the few stalks we did harvest into a simple syrup perfect for cocktails.

To do so I chopped the stalks up finely and added 1 cup water until it reached a boil, at that point I measured out 1 cup of sugar until dissolved then I strained the rhubarb and decanted my syrup into a jar.

As for the Gin Fizz here’s what you need:

2oz of Gin, for this I used one of my favourites, Collective Arts Gin Rhubarb & Hibiscus flavour.

.75oz of Lemon Juice

1 Egg White

.75oz of Syrup

2oz aprx. of Sparkling Water

Step 1: Dry Shake Egg White with Lemon Juice

Step 2: Add Gin and Syrup, Shake again

Step 3: Add Ice, Shake Again

Step 4: Pour Into Glass

This is the perfect mid-summer/autumn drink, with a non-traditional flavour profile mixed with a beloved classic cocktail.

I’d love to see your creations! Don’t forget to tag me @thebrokeblonde @hostedbyholly
