Spring/Summer Skincare Routine - 2020

Hello Blondies!

I know you may think something is missing this spring…and that is my Sephora Haul. Well to be honesy as of late I have been using my PC Points at Shoppers Drug Mart to buy the necessary makeup-y bits and as for skincare I am well covered.

If you happened to of missed my past posts on skincare during my sebaticle, I have now made it super convient for you to skim through, as I believe skincare needs all the attention it deserves you can dive far back into the archieves in the new “SKINCARE” section.

Disclaimer, I am not a beauty expert or skincare expert by any means, I share with you what I like and how I think it works for me.

Just as the seasons change so does my skincare routine. As we are approaching sunny days and warmer weather (finally), I am scoping out lighter makeup and easy ways to keep my skin as clear and fresh a possible.

My friend Bailey is with BeautyCounter and back before this COVID madness, we went on a trip to Hawaii and I kept asking her what her skincare routine was and that’s when she shared with me her beauty counter secrets. Now at the time I was still working through my Rodan + Fields Regime and my Dermalogica night routine, so to say I didn’t need skincare was a bit of an understatement.

Fastforward a few months and supploes are beginning to run low so I reached out to her and ask for her suggestions.

Bailey suggested the CounterMatch line. If you know me at all I like to go all in, especially with my skincare routine. I decided to by the CounterMatch Regime which has 5 Products, including a cleanser, toner, serum, day cream and night cream. There are 3 Fullsize and 2 Adapted sized products and retails for $232CAN. To buy all five individually and full size it would be $297 (with 40ml more product). If you were to go down this route I would highly recommend spending the extra $16 and go with the CounterMatch Collection at $313 the includes all Full Size Products in additon to the eye cream. I wish I had done a bit more research first as I would have probably gone down this road to stretch my dollar as far as I could, but I was too excited to get my hands on these goodies now that my current skincare routine has had it’s final use.

Just like Rodan + Fields I prefer giving every brand I try a fair shake before I review and just like my relationships I like to stay commited. HA!

So without further ado here’s a glimpse into my spring/summer skincare routine.

Now that it’s arrived let’s jump in shall we?! Just like Rodan + Fields, BeautyCounter suggests a 4 step process, the difference is that BeautyCounter offers both AM and PM options, the only downside is that there is no SPF included. However if you purchase the Fab in Five Bundle their Dewy tinted cream formula has SPF. Before diving into the process I will say I did mix it up a bit as I put my serum on before lotion so that the moisture from the lotion locks in the serum.

First is the lovely foaming face wash that smells delightful, it reminds me of Marzipan! The second step is a toner, which I appreciate as my previous regime did not include a toner so I had to purchase an outside toner. The only thing that threw me off was the fact it was a milky formula instead of the spray formula I’ve been used to wearing for the past year. All you need is cotton pads or in my case a soft muslin cloth, which I find just as refreshing and I believe could be better than a spray toner as it has more contact with the skin.

This is where I mix it up, I use the serum first and then the respective cream, that way the lotion can lock in all the benefits of the serum as it penitrates the skin. The one thing I do like about CounterMatch is the fact they give you both an AM and PM cream. I also been using BeautyCounter’s NEW Vitamin C serum, in conjuction with the Lotion as it was first recommend to me that I blend it with a lotion so that it dilutes the formula making it milder on the skin and gives it less of a tingle and does react as much to my sensitive skin. However, Bailey has told me that their inventory is already running low due to the high demand so I may just have to go back to using it in the AM and use Retinol in the evening. If you were interested in using a Vitamin C serum now is the time!

That’s all I have for now, I promise to update as I work through the regime and I am still waiting on the re-surfacing peel so I will be sure to share with you about that!

If you aren’t following me on Instagram Bailey and I went live last week and wanted to share some exciting goodies! I am not apart of the BeautyCounter family however Bailey is and I want to help her reach her goal and the way I can do that is by sharing on my social and the blog! BeautyCounter is offering 20% off your first purchase AND you will recieve their Brighting Facial Mist when you become a memeber. If that wasn’t enough if you spend $200+ (after discount) you will enter to WIN the resurfacing peel from Bailey and I.
