Sweat In Style #OOTW

Sweat In Style 1.0
Nulu is what I called “my cheat day pants” when I really want to wear PJ’s but I have to look like a human.

September is rapidly approaching and I thought I'd start a mini series focusing on getting back into routine for the “New Year." If you're like me, I take more time to reflect and reset in September than I do in January.

As it's Friday it's only fair that I talk about my closet...surprise surprise. Now I have been absolutely terrible at making my way to any sort of studio during the summer, but what better way to get motivated than to buy a new “sweat” outfit.

So as one does, I popped into lululemon at Southcentre and tried on a bunch of their new gear looking for what would best fit my “workout style."  I walked away with the Melodic Movement 7/8 Tights in a size 4, I probably could of done with a size 2 as they are not so compressive as other tights, but they do the trick. I also prefer 7/8 at 5ft 6. They fit me as a full length tight, so I need to get them hemmed (which lulu does complimentary), and I don't lose out on the cute side cutouts. There are other styles made with the same Nulu fabric called one of them being the Align pant, however I liked the back phone pocket and calf detail on the Melodic Movement tights.

Now that I have bottoms...I NEEDED a matching top, I went with the Radiant Rhapsody Bra. (I have attached a very similar one I will attach exact here when it comes online). This bra is a perfect fit for the styles of workouts I prefer to do, like Barre, Lagree and Yoga. If you are into higher impact workouts such as spin or running I would recommend: the clip in long line, invigorate or energy that way you have no fears of falling out.

The outfit is not complete without accessories and by that I mean scrunchies!! In 2016 I swore I wouldn't go back to wearing scrunchies...I now have a nice little collection oops!

One key thing when buying workout gear is knowing what fits best, how it should feel and how it is designed.

lululemon has 5 Key Materials for their workout gear: Luxtreme, Nulux, Everlux, Nulu and Luon. All of these have different sensations, Tight (Full Compression), Hugged (Moderate Compression), Held In (Zone Compression), Naked (Second Skin Limited Compression), Relaxed (No Compression).

For cardio based activites I would suggest Luxtreme, Nulux or Everlux. These tend to be the most sweat wicking and durable or high intensity workouts. Luxtreme has a hugged sensation which is the majority of my workout wardrobe, this will be found in Wunder Pants and Various Seasonal Pants. Nulux is a naked sensation but still has all the same properities as Luxtreme and the same feel, the best way to describe it is shaved legs, you can find these in Fast and Free tights (which I have two pairs of), I love them because of the side pockets and waist drawstring. Everlux is a hybrid of Nulux and Nulu, these too are a hugged sensation but they feel cottony soft on the outside and smooth on the inside. Now while these are designed for higher impact you can easily wear them for lower impact...I usually do because I like the way they feel.

Next is Nulu! This is what both the pants and bra I bought are made of. Hands down the softest material I have ever tried yet, super sweat wicking and durable. Nulu is what I called “my cheat day pants” when I really want to wear PJ's but I have to look like a human. As I mentioned earlier with Naked sensation pants I usually go down a size but I would recommend popping into the store (I am bias to the Southcentre location) and asking for guidance. They are more than helpful and they make you leave the store with more confidence than you walked in with! I have big love for that crew x.

Last, but not least, is the OG Luon tights. These are a hugged sensation, but instead of a slippery feel they have a more cotton knitted feel. One thing I would be cautious of when buying luon is when you're looking at the tag, BR means brushed, which means they have been designed for cooler climates (aka fall and winter in Calgary). If you happen to wear these to a hot yoga studio, you may not have the desired meditation as you will be cooking..trust me I know. If you do intend to do any heavy running in Luon tights, I would recommend trying on Luxtreme first. If you really don't like it, just be aware that you may find them to wear down faster especially if you're like yours truly who isn't blessed with a thigh gap. Haha.

Big Love, thebrokeblonde xo
